forge

the wider aim

Development runs on information.

The mission is one sentence: an incubator for transformative software and information solutions that address critical social development challenges.

01

The same three questions, every time

What do you build?

  1. 01

Where would a change do the most good?

We ask before we build. Not which feature is missing, but where the system could serve its people better. That is where the value is, wherever the request began.

  2. 02

Who stands to gain from it?

Somebody gets hours back, fewer errors, faster decisions. Naming who, and how much, turns an idea into a case worth making.

  3. 03

What is the smallest working solution we can build?

The smallest thing that works, built to fit how the place already operates. Small is what gets it there while the opportunity is still wide open.

Nothing gets built here until every one of them has an answer.

02

What is being built

What is inside the incubator?

a roadmap, not an audit

Waypoint

How does a business with no IT department get secure?

  1. The gap is knowledge — A solid security posture is built mostly from what a business already owns: the licences, the settings and the controls are largely in place and switched off. What is missing is knowing what to configure, and in what order.
  2. It sequences the work — One next thing to do, then the next, ordered by what reduces exposure first. A business that only ever gets through the opening steps is still meaningfully better defended.
  3. Written for the owner — Addressed to the person who runs the business, in the language they already use. The knowledge sits in the roadmap itself, so it works for an owner with no security team.
a record that cannot be lost

CommunityWorks

What does a community do when nobody answers?

  1. Access is not the barrier — Phones and messaging already reach almost everyone. What is missing is somewhere a fault can be reported without getting lost between a WhatsApp group, a call centre and a councillor's inbox.
  2. The record outlasts the complaint — Durable and exportable, readable by the residents raising it and by the officials who answer for it. An association can show that a fault was raised, when, and how long it went unanswered.
  3. Open source — Open, so a community can run it whether or not forge is still the one maintaining it.
a system its people have outgrown — and the shortest path to one that serves them. every product we build starts here.
